Treasure Hunting Aug-2026

This month sees my latest article, ‘Detecting with Shmee150’, appear as a feature in the August edition of Treasure Hunting Magazine. It’s always a brilliant feeling to have my articles published, as writing has become an extension of the hobby that I love and keeps me occupied when detecting isn’t possible. The whole experience of gaining this permission, spending time with Tim (Shmee150), appearing in one of his YouTube videos, and writing the article has been surreal. The journey I’ve had with metal detecting over the past six years has been one big adventure, with lots of twists and turns, most of which have been incredibly positive. This particular twist in the journey with Tim will hopefully continue, as I’ll be allowed back in the autumn and winter months when the conditions are much more favourable for detecting. Hopefully, this will bring about some better finds – and, with a bit of luck, that elusive Anglo-Saxon coin.

Upon the release of the August edition of Treasure Hunting Magazine, I promised I would drop a copy off to Tim, along with the Austin Healey 100 that he wanted as a keepsake. This ended up being another great experience, as Tim invited me to the Shmuseum to drop the bits off, which resulted in a private guided tour of the garage and all the cars. Once again, it highlights Tim’s generosity in giving up some of his time and sharing his knowledge of the cars in his collection, all of which are pretty special. It was great to hear some of the stories behind these cars and to gain a bit of insider information about what’s going to happen with the collection in the future. 😉

It’s fair to say that everything about this article, from beginning to end, has been pretty special and memorable. Thanks to Tim’s open invitation to come back and do some more detecting in the future, there will hopefully be a lot more to add to this story – so watch this space!
