Treasure Hunting 2026

Treasure Hunting Magazine – February 2026
So 2026 has started off well for me with my first article of the year appearing in the February issue of Treasure Hunting Magazine. It’s always great to have an article published in the magazine and hopefully this will be the first of many for this year. This article is all about my biggest permission which I have been detecting on for a few years now.
It’s a strange one this because a short time after I had submitted this article I found out that Detectival was going to take place on this here. That, as you can imagine was a bit of a shock, but I managed to overcome my initial dismay and things ended up turning out quite well.
A great opportunity presented itself which led to me helping out in the finds tent, recording peoples finds as they came in off the fields. As you may have seen I’ve written a separate article about that experience which will be appearing in Treasure Hunting Magazine in the next couple of months. I also have a few ideas bubbling away for some more articles this year, one of which could be quite unusual so keep an eye out for those as well.

It’s fair to say that this hobby of metal detecting is definitely my biggest passion when it comes to pastime pleasures. But a close second to that is writing this blog. On rainy days like today where it’s not really possible to go out detecting, writing acts as a supplement that fills the hole otherwise occupied by the disappointment of not being out in the fields. It’s like a second home for my love affair with metal detecting, a place where I can still exercise my passion for this great hobby without having to get wet.
I have no idea if anyone reads my blog or if people actually like the articles I write which appear in Treasure Hunting Magazine. But in a world where everything seems to be about creating videos and pumping out endless clickbait, I think it’s good to be doing things a little less ‘in your face’. I like the idea that someone may happen across my little website and then read and learn about the history that I find. For me it’s like a little historical curiosity shop that I keep adapting and adding too, a place where history is shared and always visible.
This was always my intention when I started the blog, I just felt the little bits of history that I find deserve be seen. These everyday discoveries were once part of peoples lives, lives that filled pockets of time in the centuries before us. They are reminders of the lives we never knew but should never forget, because about our past is what shapes who we are today.
